The Olympics!!
I don’t know about all of you but Mark and I have been waiting since July 2005 for this moment, and in just over 40 days time our wait will be over. This week the Olympic Torch came to Scotland along with the GB Mens Volleyball team to play some friendly matches against Belgium.
Its been a big week, so exciting, its all becoming so real!!
The first match against Belgium was Mark’s 100th cap for GB, it was such a proud moment for me and fortunately his sister and dad were in the crowd to see his great achievement too. He’s the 4th player on the team to reach 100 caps so in a very elite group of great GB volleyball men.
(image)On Wednesday night we went to Edinburgh Castle to watch the Olympic Torch’s final stop in it’s long journey around Scotland. The GB men’s volleyball team were in attendance and took the stage after the Torch was lit for a little question and answer. Seeing Mark and the boys on stage along with the Olympic Flame was amazing. Its been a long journey to here but an amazing one.
The last match the GB men’s volleyball will play in Edinburgh against Belgium is on Saturday at 3pm, so if you are in Edinburgh, come along and support Team GB.
The next trip the boys will take will be to the Olympic village… Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!

100 caps, that is such a great accomplishment!!! How exciting for you all. I was fortunate enough to compete for the US in the 2000 Sydney Olympics and it was such an unforgettable experience. Good luck and enjoy every minute!
Wow Nikki, you should totally blog about that, i’d love to read about your experiences there. You’re football, right? (or soccer, but you know what I mean!! haha)
Anyway, thanks for the well wishes, I really am enjoying every second of this Olympic experience, and its not even me thats competing!
